Earth ‘n Sisters Pottery continues the long history of the Sisters of St. Francis of Tiffin, Ohio with the earth. As the Sisters have farmed the land for over 100 years, Sister Jane Frances Omlor forms earthen clay into original ritual pottery pieces made to enhance the spiritual. Sister Jane began her pottery business in Spencer, West Virginia in 1981. After 26 years there, Sister Jane moved back to her hometown of Tiffin Ohio. Her present studio is in the former laundry of the Sisters of St. Francis. She also teaches pottery to children and adults.
The Sisters of St. Francis of Tiffin, Ohio, were founded in 1869 by Father Joseph Bihn and Elizabeth Schaefer to care for orphans and the elderly. What began as a response to a local need became a community that continues to respond to the needs of the Church and the world. The Sisters’ ministries include care of the elderly, parish ministry, health care, education, retreat work, home mission outreach, and missions in Chiapas and Cuernavaca, Mexico.
